Our Littlest.

We have lots of littles around here.  Lots of very cute littles.

But I thought it was about time that I post about the very, very littlest of our Popp clan.

Ya know,

the one inside there???

We’ve actually known for some time whether our newest little one would leave Brian feeling a little less lonely in our family – I’ve just not posted.  Insert sheepish look (I guess some of what they say about those later siblings maaayyy be true.).

But, we are very excited that we will be having a little baby girl come January!

Which will leave us with no fewer than 5 girls ages 5 and under – making for a very giggly household, and a very interesting high school experience for Mom and Dad.  (interesting….or completely terrifying.)

We’re keeping PoppSecret#3’s name under wraps until we meet her face to face, as has become our tradition.

My pregnancy is going very well.  This little one already makes herself known through her crazy movement.  I think she must be brushing up on her kick boxing skills in there – because there are no gentle movements for this little lady.  Half the day I feel a little like I’m in a car on a bumpy road, halfway expecting that the next kick my actually knock me off my balance.  She’s feisty already.  She’ll have to be around here.

Bella absolutely loves feeling her move in my belly and feeling the little poky parts she juts out.  She gives my belly kisses and talks to the baby.

Sylvia isn’t quite as patient to wait for movements, but she talks to the baby a lot.  She calls her baby Loo-loo – which is entirely too cute for words.

At night when we say our prayers one of the girls always chooses to pray for baby loo-loo and it makes my heart explode every time.  She will be one loved little baby – even if the kisses and hugs don’t feel so loving.

I am 26 weeks this week – which is entirely too close to 40 if you ask me.  Pretty soon we’ll be welcoming little baby Loo-loo to this crazy family, and we will love her more than she’ll know what to do with.

We’re going the home birth route this time.  Which reminds me, have you seen Jim Gaffigan’s latest comedy routine on home birth?  I could only find a link to his appearance on Letterman, but seriously, if you do the ‘earthy birthy’ thing, it is hilarious.

I am super looking forward to our home birth, though, and afterward will probably give you more details than you really want.  Because that’s what post-natal hormonal mothers do.

We can’t wait to meet baby Loo-loo.  I am already in love with her.  It’s her that’s going to have the real adjustment getting used to this crazy bunch!

Suspense.

I think it’s the suspense at the end of a pregnancy that kills me.  Maybe today?  Maybe tomorrow?  How many contractions has that been?  Consistent, or just in my head?  And then I remind myself, ‘Maggie, do you remember what labor was like with Sylvia?  You WILL KNOW when you are in labor, for real.’

My midwife reminded me yesterday that God has a thing for waiting.  It’s strung throughout the entire Bible – wait.  patience.  He could have made pregnancies a specific number of days long, take away all this anticipation.  But he didn’t.  So I guess I’ll just … wait.

Apparently I’m not the only one who is ready.

Sylvia’s all, “Mom, do your pregnancy exercises, go into labor already.”

I’m also excited to be able to start fostering again.  At this point in the pregnancy (actually for a few weeks now) we decided it would be best to hold off till post baby.  Cause really, can you imagine?

Here’s your new foster home.  I know your foster mom looks like she’s about to explode.  Actually, she is.

And then two days later I go into labor, and then bring home a new baby.

Traumatic?  I think yes.

So, lots of things that we are really, really, very much so, holding our breath kind of looking forward to.  Can’t wait! (But I guess we will.)

A Toddler and A Belly. How did that happen?

Probably on a daily basis I look at Sylvia and ask Brian – how do we have a toddler?  When did that happen?

Also on a daily basis, I look at my large, tumorous looking stomach and ask – how in the world did this happen?  (Before I get any snarky comments – I’m aware of how it happened.  What I mean is how did the pregnancy  go by so fast.)

Yesterday my sister requested belly pictures so that she would, “Have something to make her laugh.”  Thanks Steph.  I don’t think that’s really fair since you never had to go more than 37 weeks into any of your pregnancies, but I will humor you.

But first, some pictures of the toddler.  (How did that happen?)

IMG_0875 This is a completely terrible picture of me. (displaying the fact that my largest t-shirts don’t even fit me anymore.)  But, I posted it because look how stinkin’ old Sylvia looks!!!  STOP GROWING!

We played and played and played, and then she walked 1/2 a mile around the trail.  Have I mentioned she’s active?

If you can’t tell here, my maternity shirts don’t even fit anymore.

I’m that pregnant lady who walks around with the very bottom of her stomach showing.

gross.

On Sunday I said to Brian, “I feel like I’m getting to the point in my pregnancy where I just look humongous.”

His reply?  “Honey, you’ve looked humongous for a few weeks now.”

That’s love.

Here’s to the countdown!  Only three more weeks!  My midwife says things are looking perfect.  As of 36 weeks she was posterior, but since she has started to turn.  We’re ready whenever she is!!  Can’t wait to meet our baby girl.

Project 365 – Week 34

IMG_8887

Sylvie decided she’d just sink her teeth into an apple she found in the grocery bag.  mmmm.

Sylvia the bathroom warrior.

She snuck up to the bathroom and came out wearing underwear, toilet paper, and bearing the shield of the bathtub.

We had a respite placement this week.  (Girl, 5, Boy, 8)  We had a lot of fun, and Sylvia LOVES having the older kids around.

IMG_8920 One of my favorite things about our house is the ginkgo tree out front that goes from bright green to bright yellow in the fall.  So pretty.

What’s that you say?  I look like I must be 20 weeks along?

Just fourteen actually.  My belly has definitely ‘popped’ in the last couple weeks!

Maybe even slightly bigger than last time …. which is a little disturbing considering just how big I got last time…

Project 365 – Week 31

IMG_8706

Super cute.  My friend Shea and Sylvie.

IMG_8708

Sylvie pulling all of the tupperware out of the cabinet.  Classic toddler move.  It kept her busy, so I just ignored it.

IMG_8714

Then she decided to get into the cabinet.

IMG_8715

I threw a baby shower for two friends, Kate and Nicole.  (The center two pregnant women.)  I’m just going to count this as my 11 week picture.  Still in normal jeans (not sure how much longer that’s going to last though.).

IMG_8721 IMG_8722

Neither of the girls knows what they are having.  So just for fun I had people vote by eating the cupcake of the appropriate sex.  On girl and one boy according to the votes!

IMG_8723

Yeah, mostly Sylvia is just loving getting into anything she possible can.  Her favorite?  Unrolling the toilet paper and tearing it into as many little pieces as she can.
